The final inspection failed as we thought, but at least we only failed on known items; the jacuzzi access cover, the canned light trim in the bedroom, the anti siphon set screw on the hose bibs, and the shower enclosure. I took last week off and got the bedroom painting completed so now all the vents, lights and covers are up. Mike stopped by last Wednesday with the jacuzzi access cover and I just mounted it with adhesive silicone. I also go the shower tiles pretty much completed except for the bottom row. It has to be done in multiple stages the way I am doing it, so as to make it as waterproof as possible. Half of the shower floor got grouted last night and I will finish it off tonight. That leaves the bottom row of granite tiles and the threshold. and then finally we can have the shower doors accurately measured. That is gonna cost over $1500. Ouch...
In the past two week since I have last entered more information into this blog, I have also done a lot of cleanup outside and so has Megan, doing a little bit of yard work. I built up the dirt area at the bottom of the back steps, pretty much finished the stair tiles leading into the living room, bought and installed most of the closet cabinetry after painting the closet a bright white, mounted the vanity lights, the medicine cabinets, finished the jacuzzi granite tiling, tiled most of the desk bullnose, the bedroom pony wall moulding, spackeled and sanded half or so of the crown moulding, and of course took the day off to eat my share of the decapitated and disemboweled bird.
I hope to get crackin on the hardwood floor in about two weeks, we shall see. The only thing holding me up is the shower, so I can get the glass on order, and of course getting the bedroom doors completed as they need additional coats of polyurethane.

I have a fair amount of stuff to be done but it was a big thing to finally get the shower grouted. The floor looks great grouted and I can't wait till I can get the kitchen floor grouted too as it looks way better. The closet needs to be caulked at the bottom of the sheetrock as we are thinking of skipping the baseboards in the closet to get the cabinetry we buy, butted up against the wall. We just need to paint in there and then we can get the cabinetry. We are thinking of getting the dark cherry looking stuff from Lowes but will look at Ikea first.

I got lazy this last week or two, in moving back into the house... kind of taking a break but finishing off the last few things is really a royal pain. I should have most of the tiling finished off tonight in my drunken stupor and hope it does not look like shit too much.
Tomorrow I should spend the majority of the day trying to get things ready for final inspection next week so here goes nothing...
Hopefully the laying of bamboo flooring will be nothing like the nightmare that the tile has become. To boot there is only 800 square feet of bamboo flooring I need to lay!

Mike is also going to have the electricians come check out the dishwasher electrical line as it is not hot. Mike is going to call for the final inspection next week and that will most likly get them off the hook for anything remaining and they can get their last check. That will leave me with a list of to dos, mostly consisting of the bathroom as stuff like the hardwood flooring will not need to be in to pass inspection.
I discovered the transom window above the french doors is broken. Only the outside pane is broken and I could not see anyhting around that cold have broken it as it is way too high off the ground. I know it got broken yesterday and the day before I was on a ladder a few feet from it on the inside of the house installing a ceiling speaker so I would have seen it then. It must have been defective, installed improperly or someone slammed the french doors and is not fessing up.
